In 1997, I was the principal curator of this selected exhibition at the San Francisco Women Artists Gallery in California called: Hands and Heart, the Art of Healing.
The exhibition made visible the connection between art and healing and fostered a dialogue between the public and artists relating to the act of creating form from memorial. For this I created a qult that eventually became part of ‘the aids quilt’, administered by the NAMES Project. Click here to see the quilt in context: NAMES Project
Guest artists and art pieces included a panel from the AIDS Quilt, The Breast Cancer Names Banner called Raging Light, a talk and book signing by an artist who runs a year long workshop and art show called The Way of the Doll, and exhibition of paintings, sculptures and videos.
